Dr. Sohye Kim
Dr. Kim is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, Pediatrics, and Obstetrics & Gynecology at the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School with subspecialty expertise in maternal and infant mental health. Her research has focused on parents and infants during the first year of life, as she recognizes this earliest period as a critical time during which identification of at-risk individuals and intervention to mitigate risks can be highly effective. She is the Principal Investigator of the NIH-funded Baby Brain Study, which uses innovative neuroimaging techniques to discover early neural markers in the infant’s social brain that can predict long-term developmental outcomes. As a clinical psychologist, she has specialized in the care of pregnant and postpartum mothers who are affected by psychiatric disorders and find it difficult to respond to their infants’ needs.
